excel - Stop workbooks opening if other users are using the workbooks -


context: have dashboard show summary of various other workbooks. have data connections, @ beginning of macro refreshed using, refresh all.

issue: if of workbooks open user, workbook opened 'read only' version stops macro becomes active workbook.

question: might around having macro close workbook opens there way stop workbook opening in first place?
