database backups - Azure web app Back limit exceeded -

i have azure web app configured backups. runs once day , backup both website , database". have checked database size 170mb during taking backup facing error "the website + database size exceeds 10 gb limit backups. content size 10 gb".

it need not database can cause size exceed. logfiles folder can contributes size. if sure database not @ fault, @ other areas can cause size bloat. can determine folder content size using azure web apps disk usage site extension.

this how looks like: disk usage

installing site extension:

  • browse kudu site web app: https://sitename.scm.azurewebsites.net
  • click on site extensions , click on gallery.
  • search azure web apps disk usage site extension.
  • click on + icon install site extension.
  • once installed, click on restart site button. disk usage site extension

now, should show under installed. once installed, + incon should change play (>) shown below

disk usage site extension

this should take following url: https://sitename.scm.azurewebsites.net/diskusage/ (replace sitename name of web app)

excluding specific folders backup:

there way exclude specific folders backup.

  • create file called _backup.filter. place here: d:\home\site\wwwroot\_backup.filter.
  • specify files , folders want exclude in file
  • for example add following _backup.filter file:

\site\wwwroot\logs

\logfiles

\data

for more information on how works, refer blogpost: http://zainrizvi.io/2015/06/05/creating-partial-backups-of-your-site-with-azure-web-apps/
